Hi there! We’re Frankie and Howie! We are a pair of boys looking for our forever home or homes. We came into the rescue together, but we could be adopted together or separately.
Frankie: I’m a 3-year-old beagle boy. I am an adorable, happy-go-lucky guy who loves everyone and loves to get attention. I have lots of energy, and I love going for long, fast walks. The family who adopts me needs to be able to spend a lot of time with me and help me expend my energy and just give me lots of love. If I am not adopted with Howie, it would still be best for me to be in a home with another dog, as I thrive on that companionship. It would be nice if another dog would play with me. It would be best for me to not be in a home with cats, though, as I would likely go crazy wanting to chase them.
I thrive on routine, and since I have quite a bit of anxiety, having a set routine and some medication to help me are really important. Since my foster family has started working with me, I have started to improve a bit, but it will be important for my forever family to be patient and help me in the same way so I can continue to make progress.
I love retrieving sticks and then walking around with them. I seem to have had some training in my past, and I will sit, give my paw and come (sometimes) on command.
Howie: I’m an 8-year-old basset/beagle mix. I can be a little suspicious of people when I first meet them, but the more I can warm up to people, the more affectionate I get.
I am on the heavy side and will need to continue on a healthy weight loss program started by my foster family.
I know some basic commands, and I enjoy working on obedience with my foster brother. I love to sniff, and if I catch a scent, I wag my tail and bark at the ground while tracking.
The best family for me will not have young children. Older children would be okay, though.
If you think you might be the right match for one or both of us, please submit an adoption application and mention us — Frankie and/or Howie. If you’ve already applied to become an adopter and think we might be the match for you, please email Wendy at adoptions@newenglandbassethoundrescue.org.
