Hi! My name is Bruiser, and I am a 1 1/2 year old red and black brindle basset / lab mix who is currently looking for my forever family.
My foster family sometimes calls me “Fruit Loop” because I am an energetic and silly guy. I am very good at entertaining myself by running, jumping, rolling and diving until I wear myself out. I also love to be outdoors.
I also have a cuddly side, and I really am a love bug who loves to stick close to my people. I would love a family that is active and that would spend time playing with me and going for walks or hikes.
Because I don’t really know my own strength and have that young lab energy and a tendency to jump at my people while playing, I would do best in a home where there are no young children under 8 years old.
I do have an issue with food aggression towards other dogs, so if I go to a home with other dogs (I’m fine with them otherwise), my family will need to be vigilant about making sure to feed me separately from the others. I would probably do okay in a home with cats, but my foster mom says that any cat should be dog savvy because I would probably chase them but not hurt them.
I can be vocal, so I would probably not be a good fit for a family living in an apartment or condo. My ideal would be a home in a rural area.
Like I said before, I love to be outdoors, so I would love to find an active family and be a good walking or hiking partner for them.
Do you think you could be the family who could be active with me and continue working with me on training (I am house broken, but could use work in other areas — after all, I am still a very young guy)? If so, please complete an adoption application and mention me — Bruiser!
